Lowe Future Hangs In The Balance

Ryan Lowe could depart Crewe Alexandra this summer despite Steve Holland telling the striker that he would like to keep him.

Lowe has fallen out of favour with the first team over the last twelve months and spent the final weeks of the season on loan at Stockport, where he failed to impress.

With still a year left on his current contract Lowe is still wanted at the Alex by manager Steve Holland but could yet opt to move on in search of first team football. Steve Holland realises this but revealed that it's unlikely there'll be a place in the starting line up for Lowe next season.

Holland told superalex.co.uk 'I've spoken to Ryan and he made it clear he wants to play at this stage of his career rather than sit on the bench. I wasn't able to assure him of a first-team place, particularly if we land some of our targets.'

Lowe signed for the Alex in May 2006 after leaving Chester City, who were also interested in taking him back on loan earlier this year. He's gone on to make over 70 appearances for the club and scored seventeen goals, including the memorable hat-trick at home to Carlisle in his first season.
