Accrington Keen On Roberts Deal

Accrington Stanley are in talks to re-sign former Alex loanee and Ipswich winger Gary Roberts. The 23 year old spent a month on loan at Gresty Road last season and impressed in his few appearances.

Holland did attempt to extend the loan deal but Ipswich Town boss Jim Magilton was reluctant to agree and the deal eventually came to nothing.

Now though Roberts has been transfer listed by Ipswich and it seems could be set for his former club Accrington Stanley. Roberts spent 18 months at Accrington before his moved to Ipswich.

Stanley Chairman Eric Whalley told the Lancashire Telegraph that they are very interested in taking back Roberts: 'We have been speaking to Gary - the manager talks to him a lot anyway,'

'I think he is available on a free and he is someone we have spoken to, so we will have to see what happens.'

From his performances at the Alex in January/February, it's hard to see a player of Roberts quality have to drop down to League Two and makes you wonder if Steve Holland will return to Roberts over a permanent deal.
