Want-away goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams is still attracting the interest of the big clubs. Despite never playing a first team comeptitive match for Crewe, Williams is still a wanted man with the likes of Middlesbrough, Derby, Blackburn, Sunderland, Bolton, Swansea right through to Shrewsbury Town interested in the 21 year old.
Last week Fon spoke of his frustration towards the club; having been here for the four worst defensive years the club have seen in decades, Williams was still never given a chance in the first team.
Williams told The Sentinel: 'I haven't been given an opportunity at Crewe at all, I've been here for five years now and I've not played one first-team game.'
With Williams out of contract this summer the club have offered him a new with the promise that if he signs then he will be first choice keeper for next season. However, it's not gone down well with Owain, who is baffled at how the club can make such an offer.
'Steve said I was going to be number one, but I don't know how someone can say that now at the end of the season when Ben Williams hasn't said what he is doing either way.'
It seems that Fon has all but officially rejected the offer. He has failed to get back in touch with manager Steve Holland over the offer and he seems to be looking elsewhere. Holland revealed that phone calls and letters sent to Williams hadn't been answered and he doesn't see Owain signing his new contract.
This week saw interest in Fon go up another notch, maybe down to his hard working agent. Even the BBC got in on the act with their website claiming to know that two Premiership sides are willing to take Fon - Bolton and Blackburn.
When Williams does eventually find a new cub, his career will be watched with great interest by Alex fans and many questions as to how such a highly rated played was never given the chance was allowed to leave with such poor views of the club will be asked.
