Boyle Released By Toffees

As expected, Patrick Boyle, one of many loans at Gresty Road last season, has been released by his parent club Everton.

Boyle spent three months at Crewe Alexandra covering for the injured Billy Jones at left back. The 21 year old made 17 appearances in red and experienced a mixture of highs and lows, with his ultimate low being his disastrous game in the 2-1 defeat at Luton Town towards the end of the season.

Today it was confirmed that he would not be kept on at Everton once his contract expires this summer and the defender is now free to look for a new club.

It's not yet known if Steve Holland will move for Boyle in an attempt to add depth to his defence, which took a pounding with injuries in the final few months of the season.
