Survival Needed To Improve

Steve Holland is hoping for survival so he can start improving his squad, with maybe one or two players ready to arrive within the next couple of weeks.

Holland has already had talks with Gretna 'keeper Greg Fleming and seems to be closing in on one or two other targets too. However, nothing can be completed till the club have secure League One football for next season.

Speaking to SuperAlex.co.uk, Holland believes survival is important if the club wants to move forward with their transfer targets: 'We've already started work on improving the team for next year, but we can only go so far with that.

'We feel quite confident we've made considerable progress there already. And hopefully as soon as we establish that we will be in League One next year we can start dotting the Is and crossing the Ts with one or two players.'

The likes of Stevenage's Steve Morison and Barnet's Albert Adomah have also been heavily linked with moves to Gresty Road and both fit the bill as to what the Alex are looking for.

It is not unusual for the Alex to move early in the transfer market. Ryan Lowe signed at the start of May in 2006 whilst last summer's signing were all pretty much wrapped up by the first week on June.
