Pope Out For Season

Tom Pope could be ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken toe. The Stoke born striker picked up the injury last week, and played with it in the 1-1 draw at Walsall, but the club have now ruled that the injury may now force him out for the remaining six games of the season.

It comes as a blow for the Alex and Pope after the 22 year old had managed to break into the side and play a pivotal role up in a three man attack recently. Having started the last six games, Pope had also found his way onto the score sheet of late with two goals in his last three games.

The injury now leaves Crewe a bit short in quality up front for tomorrow's game at Luton. With Dean Morgan ruled out and Ryan Lowe going out on loan to Stockport yesterday, Steve Holland can be thankful to have captured Steve Jones.

It remains to be seen if Holland will now revert back from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 or if either Byron Moore or Shaun Miller get the nod as Pope's replacement.
