Ask The Editor - Walsall

This is a new feature where we ask the editor from teams were about to play for their views and opinions. Hopefully we can squeeze a few in before the end of the season.

Our first questions went to Jorges Jottings from the Vital Walsall site.

How's your season been after the success of being promoted last year?

The season started off with a poor run of defeats and performances sending us rock bottom and in truth we looked likely to prove the bookies right as relegation favourites. Since then the manager has made some tough but correct decisions to turn our season around. Expectations have been low with many Saddlers fans happy for a mid table finish although eyes are turning towards a chance of a play off place...in short we have over achieved this season.

Earlier in the season we had a stalemate at 0-0, what did you think to that game?

To be honest I thought we were unlucky not to come away with all the points, if perhaps Ricketts had scored from one of the many chances we created we might have sneaked the points away. However credit to Crewe you hung in there and if you had scored...who knows!

Which players should we watch out for on Monday?

Of course you know all about big Clayton Ince, but I would watch out for Lee Holmes if we can get the ball out wide he can cause any defence problems.

Have you got any key injuries?

Lee Holmes went off in our draw at Forest but we are hopeful he will be fit.

How's your recent form been?

Poor really, in January we lost half of our defence when we sold Dan Fox and Scott Dann to Coventry City for a reported 1.5 million plus add on's. These two have just been called up to the England under 21 squad, I don't know a team at this level that wouldn't suffer losing two players of this calibre. However we have also lost Ricketts and Peter Sweeney from the team that last played Crewe, whilst in general it is our home form that has held us back this season with only six wins at home.

Who do you think will be relegated from league 1 this season?

Well, Luton, Bournemouth and Port Vale look doomed unless a footballing miracle happens, so it is all about that last spot, with yourselves, Gillingham and Cheltenham in the mire. Of those Gillingham have been the poorest team to play Walsall, and of course they relegated us from the Championship on goal difference so there is no love lost there, and what a terrible journey to the Medway.....Gills to go down!!

Who do you think will be promoted?

Swansea as Champions, Carlisle or Doncaster to go with them, I wouldn't be surprised if which ever team misses out they will also fail in the play offs. Leeds could well win the play offs especially if they get some of there deducted points back.....but that's a different story!!

Where do you think Crewe will finish in the league?

I don't see you been that far away from the relegation places, perhaps a mixture of good results and poor results will see you finish between 6 to 7 places off the bottom. Consistency will be the key in your battle against the drop.

Finally, what's your prediction for Monday's game?

Easter Monday games are hard to predict, injuries from Saturday been a key feature. A small young squad (in general) and a tough game at Leeds on Saturday may well see us going into the game trying to get our play off spot back, that allied with our relatively poor home form makes me say it will be a point each 1-1 perhaps.

So after Monday I wish you all the best for the run in especially if you can steal any points from our play off rivals!!
