Roberts Set To Extend Loan

Loanee Gary Roberts looks set to extend his stay at Gresty Road once he gets the all clear fitness wise. The winger, on loan from Ipswich Town, missed today's 0-0 draw with Forest due to a achilles injury.

Steve Holland told the press after the match that he fully expects to see Roberts extend the loan deal after a scan on his injury this weekend. As long as the scan comes back all clear then Roberts could remain for the rest of the season.

Holland revealed that the paper work on the deal is done and dusted and will be completed upon confirmation of his fitness. He also revealed that Roberts could be in contention for Tuesday night's game against Port Vale.

Meanwhile, the Alex have been linked to Preston North End striker Neil Mellor. The former Liverpool man is assumed to be a target after Preston today completed the signing of Tamas Priskin from Watford, who turned down a move to Crewe earlier this week.
