Alex Close In On Striker

The Crewe management hope to add a new striker to the ranks in the next few days after having a loan offer accepted. The striker, who is thought to have recently played a spell in the SPL, is now mulling over a loan move to Gresty Road.

The move comes in the same week Steve Holland secured the services of Ipswich Town's Gary Roberts for at least a month, with a realistic view of extending that deal. The winger impressed on his debut on Tuesday night, despite only signing hours earlier and having never met his team mates before the game.

The striker seems to be just one of a couple the club are chasing though, and assistant manager Neil Baker is hopeful a deal will be struck soon as the Alex's transfer fortunes start to turn.

He told The Sentinel: 'The Scottish striker is still a possibility. He's got a decent track record, but he's been out with an injury. We've not heard on either, but after our last two games we might be more attractive now.'
