Holland: Best Of The Season

The Dutchman was pleased with tonight's 1-0 away win at Leyton Orient after seeing his side dominate a good period of the game.

After coming under so much pressure in recent weeks, the win couldn't have come quick enough for Steve Holland. Holland's relief was clear to see when he spoke to the official site and Radio Stoke.

The first team coach said: 'We played particularly well in the first half, arguably the best we have played this season. The only criticism at half-time was that we were not further ahead. We just needed that bit of quality at the end to finish the chances off.'

It was a Nicky Maynard header in the first half that sealed the win and Holland was pleased to see the young striker get a goal after a really poor patch. Nicky struggled since returning from a broken leg in December but Holland hopes the goal is the turning point:

'I was pleased for Nicky because he has had a tough time of it lately, but he is always dangerous. We do expect a lot from him but I would imagine he is feeling a lot happier with the world at the moment because strikers thrive on goals.'
